Freedom’s Star

Two families lived in the United States and wanted to see Canada. It was 1816. The Millers, Mennonites from Pennsylvania, move to own more land; the Bolger family, slaves on a Virginia plantation, flee from cruel oppression. Always fearful of slave hunters, they must run by night and sleep by day. Kind friends, including the Millers, help them along. As the Millers travel to Canada, Betsy keeps wondering, “Will we find the Bolgers when we get there?”
