Andrew V. Ste. Marie
On Thursday, September 29, 1614, an elderly – but zealous – Anabaptist preacher by the name of Hans Landis was beheaded in Zürich, Switzerland. He was the last Anabaptist martyr sentenced to death in Switzerland. Most (if not all) of the Landises in the United States today are descended from or related to this Swiss Brethren martyr. This issue gives a biography of Hans Landis in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of his death.
